I am ditching 3dsmax. Too expensive. In the process of converting my project to Blender witch is free.
Comments are always welcome.
Not quite finished but you get the idea.

This is beautiful, i love the little hairs details, if I didn't know you already I would say this came from the Rare hard drives.
Any tips on how to get started on Blender? I find the UI so confusing. It would make my life a whole lot easier if I could model and rig straight from Blender to Unreal.

Thanks for the kind words.
What are you currently using to model? That Zinger was made in max and retextured and lit and rendered in blender. Still got to learn how to edit geometry.
I am very new to Blender only used it for 3 days so I don't have many tips. I have used lots of 3ds apps in the past so I know what kinds of things I want to do. And searching google for answers.

I use Zbrush Core Mini. Its free and the UI is a bit of a mess but I already got used to it. My favorite program was Sculptris but it was discontinued years ago and is very limited and buggy.
I know I'm going to end up with Blender but I just can't seem to crack the steep learning curve. I gotta keep at it and it will happen eventually, my prehistoric brain is having a hard time learning new programs.

Yes. ZBrush UI is pretty confusing.
I don't find the UI in Blender confusing. I'm sure you can learn it in time. Shouldn't take that long to learn. And google is your friend!
I have been using Blender for less then a week and I have learned a lot already.

Your work is amazing Cosmicman. Keep it up! Much better then I can do!

I rendered the title in 4K Using Blender.
Feel free to use this for anything you want. Just give credit.
It even has a transparent background.

File is to big. I had to upload it else where...

You're very kind, because there is no way I could make a Zinger look that good
That title is insane, I definitely want use the 4k one for the opening of my 3D game, thanks for making that.

Really cool to see the program handling specific feathers and not just a texture, I think he would look better with all feathers flowing the same direction. The renders from Dkc2 it almost looks like hairs instead of feathers, but maybe thats a limitation of the 90s hardware.

You are correct. I am modelling it off of Squawks from DKC Returns/ Tropical Freeze.
I decided to try to make it look more cartoony. I thinks its a lot better now. Not perfect.

Mine Cart. Needs Hair. And not sure on the lighting.
Also I thought the millstone was too metallic looking. Hear is a version less shinny. Better?

Oh, Cyclone, these look absolutely fantastic!!!
Last year, I got a blender book to attempt to teach myself, but I find 3d stuff so tedious and difficult! I need to get back to it. I remember having a hard time with it back in high school. I wish I took that class again

Do you plan on doing full animations for all the characters, not just those in the first DKC? We're talking 2, 3 and maybe the DK Land exclusives.

^ My priority is to model and animate DKC1 characters and objects.
Here is the butterfly. Its meant to be simple and not realistic. And I suck at texturing lol.
Too Shiny?

Both look great, but that tree is one of my favorite models from the game, you recreated it perfectly. Those would look great in a Jungle Hijinxs level remake

They all look great, are they rigged and are you animating them on a different program?

Unfortunately all my rigging and animations are lost from the import to Blender....
I don't have any animation software... just a 3dsmax trial; that ends in 10 days!
If you want to use my models I would be willing to send you the models and scene files. If you want?

Why don't you give Unreal or Unity a chance, I'm sure you can do some cool stuff with your models if you practice a bit with one of those game engines. I went the Unreal route and now I feel is too late for me to migrate all my projects to Unity but I hear Unity is really good too.
About the models I would love to have some of your models in my game, and I will also offer you all my models that you want, some I have made, some I have downloaded, just let me know.

Is Unreal free? I'm still learning Blender it would be a bit overwhelming to learn another program so soon already.

Ok I will PM you soon my email info, I need that tire bounce, the bananas, tree etc etc to replace my models
Yes, Unreal is free, I find the UI user friendly plus the Unreal store has a lot of free assets and sample projects.

Not perfect. Some of the normal maps didn't import perfectly.
Some Pine Trees.
They are meant to be used at a distance so you won't notice how simple it is.
A wooden cart. I don't like it.
I modelled it for part of my animation project, The kremlings stealing bananas.

That wooden cart though... could it be used to carry enemies instead? You have a Kremling wheeling a minion that jumps out upon spotting a Kong. Or, a Kong wheels up an item for you to collect.
